Chatting with Suppliers on Saladplate
Premise: You will need to be logged in as a Buyer to chat with Suppliers
Whenever you see this orange bar, you will be able to start a chat with the Supplier.
This chat function is mainly available in the product detail pages, if the Supplier has enabled their chat widget. You can click the orange bar to start a new chat, or to see your chat history with this specific Supplier on this product.
Starting a new chat
Once the chat widget is expanded, you will be able to type in your message. Press "Enter" to send a message.
If the Supplier is offline, you will receive an automated reply asking you to leave your email address, so the Supplier can reach out to you later. If the Supplier replies back in this chat window, your browser will send you a notification, if you allow them.
Chat History
Your chat history is kept at the product detail page where the conversation happened.
At the top right corner of the chat widget, you will be able to choose the time period of chat history to show.

- Last 7 days
- Forever
The Supplier will also see the conversations in their panel. However, you are free to take the conversation to email or any other place if you exchange contact methods. We on Saladplate offers a video chat tool that Suppliers can invite you to a meeting. The invitation is sent via email, so make sure to leave your email address for further discussions.
